The vision for Five Loaf House
Five Loaf House in 2014.
The story goes that one day Jesus was confronted by a massive human need. Many thousands of hungry people had followed Him to a remote place, too remote to find enough food for everyone. His solution was to instruct His followers to meet the need, but their resources were laughably inadequate: just five loaves of bread and a few fish.
Miraculously, as the followers of Jesus were faithful with whatever resources they had, Jesus took them, blessed them, broke them, and multiplied them beyond anyone's wildest expectation. Five loaves fed the many thousands.
This is the call God has given Pocono Lake Wesleyan Church, a small church nestled in the mountains of northeast Pennsylvania. Our goal is to use this building, the former Lake House restaurant, in creative ways to impact and transform lives. We are proud to partner with Monroe County Habitat for Humanity, as well as the churches of the Top of the Mountain Ecumenical Council and our local communities, to see what God can do with our faithfulness.
As of June 2014, Five Loaf House is proud to be the new home of the Top of the Mountain Ecumenical Food Pantry. Food donations can be dropped off inside the building only Monday through Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. Donations can also be taken to any of the six churches of our ecumenical council. Food pantry distributions are held on the second Monday and Tuesday of each month. Dates can be found on the food pantry website.
